Autoflowering or automatic seeds are marijuana seeds that produce plants that will be ready to harvest within 8 to 12 weeks from germination. This allows growers to harvest buds quickly.
In addition to the speed of cultivation, the main difference with feminized seeds is that automatics do not have a photoperiod. This means that they will start to flower or reproduce when they reach a certain age, not according to the amount of hours of light they receive throughout the day.
This type of seeds have been bred from different crosses with genetics known as rudelaris. Rudelaris are varieties originating from southern Siberia and northern Kazakhstan. By adapting over thousands of years to these cold and sunless climates, they have developed the ability to complete their life cycle very quickly and independently of the photoperiod.
The morphology of this type of plant is between 60 and 90 centimeters, usually with few branches and broad leaves. However, they are becoming taller and more branched, which results in higher production. Due to their low stature, they are ideal for gardens and terraces where we want them to go unnoticed.
Although the autoflowering seeds were normally grown outdoors, due to its improvements in terms of production, they are also planted in indoor crops. In the latter, it is advisable to use a photoperiod of 20 hours of light and 4 hours of darkness to achieve maximum production.
With the improvement of automatic genetics, more and more productive, powerful and tasty varieties are obtained. This is due to the fact that the breeders obtain a greater quantity of cannabinoids and terpenes from the feminized genetics, but keeping part of the rudelaris genes, thus maintaining the characteristics that make them automatic.
Another great achievement are the XXL autoflowering seeds. This type of varieties are an evolution with which very high productions are obtained in record times.
